The bar is open and as for the coming autumn we´ll offer hot punsh and fire and possibly heat the Onsen (if we make it!). 18.00  Together Apart

eine lecture performance von plan b

language: englisch

plan b are the British artists Sophia New and Dan Belasco Rogers who have lived in Berlin since 2001. Over a decade ago they decided to record every single movement they make outside, every day, with a GPS, a practice they continue to the present. As a result, they can also trace the times when they have been together and apart, the starting – point for a work investigating the ghosts of past proximity and separation. In this performative lecture, especially adapted for the Floating University, they present some thoughts and reflections on data, memory, daily practice, intimacy, physicality, distance and sharing space and time. www.planbperformance.net

19.30  The Visitor

Ein Film von Katarina Schröter

Sprache / language: none/engl/dt.
anschließendes Gespräch

“The visitor”, a silent figure incorporated by the filmmaker, roams through three Mega-cities, creating wordless encounters with random people, following a dramaturgy of chance both with the choice of the protagonist as with the outcome of each story. First simply attendant, she becomes an intruder, friend and even beloved one who shares the whole daily life of her protagonists, their sleeping places and worries. “The visitor” has been created entirely through un-staged improvisations with random encounters on the streets of Mumbai, Shanghai and Sao Paulo.

CLIMATE CARE 1-10 AUGUST

Last year we opened the Floating University Berlin.  An offshore campus for cities in transformation in the rainwater basin of the former Tempelhof Airport. We had 3 open weeks, more than 1000h of serious transdisciplinary learning, lots of visitors, sun and fun. We finished this unique and supposedly single semester in september 2018 with the “Floating Symposium” and to the supportive response of all the participants: There will be a Floating University Berlin in 2019 and 2020!

Since December we have been transitioning into an association.  “Floating University e.V.”  consists of 23 members that manage, maintain, take care of the site and explore hybrid formats bridging the academic and the non-academic world. This years’ programme focuses on Floating Thursdays, the Kids University and the Climate Care festival.

CLIMATE CARE

Between 1-10 August, the festival will explore correlations between environment, urban practice and education by devising caring curriculums for climate challenges, in Berlin and beyond. Climate Care brings the affirmative attitude of care discourse into climate topics, tackling not only environmental issues, but caring for the convoluted social, political and economical climates that surrounds us today.

FLOATING THURSDAYS

As a warm up for the summer to come, please join us on the first Thursday of each month for a very special floating evening. The Floating University e.V. proposes a diverse program, a bar and mud in the basin!

THE KIDS UNIVERSITY

In April 2019, the new semester of the Kids Uni starts for all explorers between 6 and 11 years old.  This semester focuses on the question : WHERE FROM and WHERE TO? Where do bees collect pollen, where does the water of the basin goes, where does the fox den ends, who comes in, and what comes out ? We will invite experts from the surrounding, develop games, build (secret) spots, read (secret) signs, cook and bake our own (secret) recipes, out of our own medecinal plants.
